A bunker absorbs changes in the feed process, for example in case of a malfunction. This gives sufficient time to rectify the malfunction without having to shut down production.
Bunkers come in every shape: round, rectangular or square. As discharge systems they can be fitted with screws (single screw, twin or double screw with or without endless floors). Round bunkers with a flat floor are often fitted with several dosing screws. In the bunker itself there is then one vertical feed screw that feeds the underlying screws. A weighing function can be connected to a bunker among other things for stock control.
